How Albion’s downtown has changed

Downtown Albion in 1915.There have been quite a few changes in Albion’s downtown area during the past 100 years.
That’s obvious from this photo, shared by retired Albion photographer Keith Stewart from his collection. The three images were taken in 1915 at the intersection of Main and Fourth Street, apparently by McGill Studio. The two-story First National Bank building dominated the southeast corner of the intersection. Left side of the photo shows the view east on Main Street. Center photo is looking south on Fourth Street, and the right side photo is looking west on Main Street. Many of these buildings, or portions of them, still stand today. Note the period dress, automobiles, and the rutted dirt streets.
