Council considers city sales tax proposal

Albion City Council is considering a proporsal for renewal of a one-half cent city sales and use tax.Albion’s special one-half cent city sales and use tax authorization is set to expire in 2016, and the City Council reviewed a proposal Jan. 12 on a new 10-year proposal.
A new proposal will likely go before the city’s voters in May of 2016.
Andrew Devine, city administrator, provided statistics on the current city sales tax revenues and projections at the request of Mayor Jim Jarecki.
