Merlin Buettner

Merlin Walter Buettner, 74, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016.
Merlin, son of Walter and Viola Morris Buettner, was born April 21, 1941 in Albion.
Merlin is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary Ann; three sons; Dave and wife Kim of Cedar Rapids, Tom and wife Ranita of Cedar Rapids, Bill and wife Cynthia of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; Nena Rutten of Cedar Rapids, Tom and Megan Buettner of Greeley, Tina and Miguel Karmann of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Buettner of Omaha, Shelby Buettner of Chicago, IL, Craig Buettner of Omaha, Emily Buettner of Omaha, Shayna Buettner and Adam Duerksen of Albion, Jon Buettner of Cedar Rapids, Sarah Buettner of Cedar Rapids, Joshua Buettner of Cedar Rapids and nine great grandchildren; Marysa and Ava Duerksen, Albion, Kaimyn and Hunter Rutten, Cedar Rapids, Payton and Brigham Loeffler, Cedar Rapids, Hadlee Buettner, Greeley, Presley and Braylee Buettner, Cedar Rapids; brothers and sisters; Ronald and Diane Buettner, Cedar Rapids, Harold and Janice Buettner, Primrose, Richard and Mary Buettner, Columbus, Arnie and Shari Buettner, Albion, Bob and Janet Buettner, Hickman, Mark and Becky Buettner, South Bend, NE, Jerry Buettner, Helena, MT, Marie Jenkins, Lincoln, NE, Patty and Rick Kolm, Columbus, Joan and Bill Arkfeld, Madison, NE; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Philamae Towey, Cedar Rapids, Don and Mary Pat Boesch, Cedar Rapids.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, son Jim, brother John, grandson-in-law Toma Rutten, brother-in-laws Ed Jenkins and James Boesch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Monsignor Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Primrose.
