Meyer lone Card medalist in Boone Central golf invite

Senior Joel Meyer led Boone Central/Newman Grove and Albion News area golfers in Saturday’s Boone Central Invite at the Albion Country Club, placing ninth among tournament medalists.
Host Boone Central/Newman Grove finished ninth in the team standings with a 391 total and Riverside (422) was 11th. Spalding Academy did not post a team score, but had two golfers compete.

Ord won the event championship by 10 strokes over Humphrey St. Francis (329-339). Schuyler (342) nipped Battle Creek (343) for third place.
St. Francis did claim the tournament gold medalist, with Trevor Kosch turning in rounds of 35-37 for an 18 hole score of even par 72. Kosch was followed by Ord’s Brady Rogers (76) and Colton Zulkoski (78).
Meyer fired a first round 40 and followed with a 44 for his ninth-place total of 84. He was the only Cardinal golfer to break the 100 mark on a gusty day of play.
