LEAK REPAIR – City Water Commissioner Ron Morearty, Street Commissioner Jim Bader and City Councilman Jon Porter were working on the scene to repair the water leak Monday afternoon.
A water main break was discovered late Monday morning, April 25, near the water tower in Albion.
City crews were digging up the line to discover necessary repairs, and the city water tower was offline Monday and Tuesday, which affected pressure throughout the community.
Later on Monday, a second water main break was discovered under the railroad tracks behind Kav’s Tire & Lube, north of Market Street. Crews had to isolate this leak before continuing work at the leak near the water tower. Work at the water tower main then resumed. The water tower was expected to be back in service by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. During the outage, water restrictions remained in effect throughout the community.
