Removal of many tons of dirt is the current focus of the Boone Central Schools construction project, according to Bruce Niesen, site superintendent for Sampson Construction Co.
Bygland Dirt Contracting has been hauling away the excess soil since last week.
Additional excavation work will be done in two areas where portions of the old high school building were left underground. One of these areas will have to be excavated to a depth of 15 feet, refilled and compacted, Niesen said.
