Possible after school program proposed

A possible after school child care program was proposed to the Boone Central School Board during its meeting Monday night, Oct. 10, in Albion.
Boone County Area Foundation Fund (BCAFF) has formed a childcare committee to look into ways to improve childcare availability. This committee is exploring an after school program, in partnership with Boone Central, to help fill the childcare need.
Results of a survey, taken during Boone Central’s fall parent-teacher conferences, were presented by Lindsey Jarecki, who serves on the BCAFF childcare committee.
Previous discussions have shown a number of parents have to leave work each day to transport children to daycare after school.
Availability of childcare has come up often in discussions of community needs, Jarecki said, and an after school program is listed as a need in strategic planning.
Superintendent Cory Worrell noted that an after school program is also generally supported by local private childcare providers.
