An Oct. 26 community assessment visit to Albion by state economic development officials went very well, according to members of the Albion Economic Development Corp. (AEDC), which hosted the visit.
The Department of Economic Development officials attending were Steve Charleston, director, and Brian Gaskill, assistant director, from DED’s Housing and Community Development Division, and Sheryl Hiatt, regional field staff manager for Business Development.
Also attending were Jan Merrill and Mandy Gear, community planners with Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District. Both have been working with AEDC on a Downtown Revitalization (DTR) grant.
DED officials were provided an information book about Albion, prepared by Doug Koch, BCDA executive director, and Mitch Glesinger, administrative assistant.
Leading the walking tour and driving tour of the community were AEDC President Jeff Jarecki, Doug Young, Dani Thober and Dr. Cory Worrell.
The group made stops downtown at Main Street Hardware/Gray Haired Trout, Timeless, Albion ThriftyWay, 3C’s Restaurant and Catering and The Boot Rack.
Attending a question and answer session later were Andy Roberts, Dani Thober and Norm Reynoldsen.
