web. 3-22. Home-Farm-Garden logoBoone County Home, Farm and Garden Show will be held this Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, with more than 80 exhibit booths planned.
“We have more indoor booths and outdoor displays than ever before,” said organizer Theresa Scheffler. “Our ag exhibitors and our construction entities have both increased.”
Scheffler noted that several local nonprofit entities have been selected to benefit from the show proceeds this year. These include the Boone Central bowling team, Albion Boy Scout Troop 155, Albion Congregational U.C.C. Church, Akron Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Free Church of Albion, and the Albion Food Pantry.
A “sneak peak” will be held Friday evening, March 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. with free will admission. This will include a wine and cheese tasting, as well as “star gazing” on the fairgrounds through telescopes provided by the Boone County Astronomy Club.
The show will be Saturday, March 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This will include an Applie Pie Bake-Off contest, with entries to be received by 9 a.m. Contest entrants will receive free admission.
Three free workshops are planned throughout the day on the following schedule:
• 9:30 a.m. — Landscape Design by Elizabeth Killinger, UNL Extension specialist.
• 11:30 a.m. — Grandma’s Recipes and Remedies by Norma Porter.
• 1:30 p.m. — Tractors, Past, Present and Future by Robert Rohrer, UNL Extension specialist.
