Some Catholic parishes could see changes

Discussions are now underway that could bring changes to some area Catholic parishes.
Recommendations have been made after a study that began last September on how to best use resources within the Archdiocese of Omaha. Some of the recommendations included parish consolidations, cluster relationships and schools organized by region.
“The overall objective of developing a rural pastoral plan is to have parish communities that will be even more mission-focused and better positioned to implement the pastoral vision announced last year by Archbishop Lucas,” said Deacon Tim McNeil, chancellor of the archdiocese.
Changes for area parishes included in the report are:
• St. Bonaventure Church, Raeville, consolidate with St. Boniface Parish, Elgin; St. Bonaventure Church becomes a chapel.
• St. John the Baptist Parish, Petersburg, consolidate with St. Michael’s Parish, Albion; St. John the Baptist Church becomes a mission church, with Sunday Masses and other sacraments.
