Nebraska players and coaches traveled many miles for the 6th Annual Nebraska-Wyoming Six-Man Football Shootout, then covered a lot of yards in a 58-38 victory over the hosts Saturday at Kaycee, Wyoming.
Nebraska, coached by Riverside’s Joe Imus, used major contributions from Albion News area athletes and five first-half turnovers by Wyoming to control the contest from the mid-second quarter point.
The victory evened the Shootout series at 3-3.
Imus was accompanied by a number of familiar faces, as Riverside’s Alex Berney, Zach Diessner of Spalding Academy, and St. Edward’s Evan Roberts, Jonah Micek, Brayden Olson and Keenan Rasmussen helped form the nucleus of the Nebraska squad.
Jonah Micek was named the game’s Offensive MVP and Alex Berney was selected as the Defensive MVP.
Imus was assisted by Troy Kleffner of Spalding Academy, Silver Lake’s Duane Arnnt and Landon Miller of Cody-Kilgore. Noah Valasek of Riverside was selected ffor the contest, but was not able to participate.
