Albion Cornerstone set for Area 6 tourney

Albion Cornerstone Legion will begin play in the American Legion Class C Area 6 Seniors Tournament Friday at Palmer. Cornerstone, seeded #3, will face #6 Utica-Beaver Crossing (UBC) at 4:30 p.m.
Other first-round games Friday match #4 Central City vs. #5 Lawrence-Inland at 2 p.m. and #2 Sutton vs. #7 Superior at 7 p.m. Top-seeded Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley (PWG) has a first-round bye.
The winner of the Albion/UBC contest will play the Sutton/Superior winner at 7 p.m. Saturday. The losers of those games will meet in an elimination game Saturday at 2 p.m. The Central City/Lawrence winner will play PWG at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Central City/Lawrence loser will receive a bye in the loser’s bracket.
The tournament will continue Sunday and Monday, with the championship game(s) scheduled for 5:30 (and 8:00 if necessary) Tuesday. The Area 6 champion will qualify for the American Legion Class C State Tournament at Central City July 29-Aug. 2. (If Central City, state host, is the Area 6 champion, the second-place team will qualify for state, as well.)
