BC/NG harriers thrive again at West Holt

Boone Central/Newman Grove cross country perofrmances just get better and better in 2017.
The BC/NG girls won another meet championship Thursday at Atkinson and the Cardinal boys surprised even their veteran coach by taking runner-up honors in the West Holt Invitational.
“We did really well. I was just really excited to have the guys finish second – I didn’t expect that at all!” Dickey exclaimed. “Everyone seems willing now, I think, to pull their own weight to make these teams get better.”
For the Boone Central/Newman Grove girls, Thursday was a matter of sustained excellence. Freshmen Sam Weeder and Jordan Stopak continued as one of Class C’w best 1-2 punches in the state, placing second and third, respectively. Weeder’s time of 20:22 was #2 All-Time at Boone Central and Stopak’s 20:23 was #3 All-Time.
The Cardinals had two additional runners among the top 15 individuals – Autumn Simons (13th, 22:03) and Katie Goodwater (15th, 22:19) – as Boone Central/Newman Grove easily outpaced Ainsworth for the girls team title (31-50).
In the boys competition, Jonny Lindgren continued his splendid freshman campaign with a runner-up finish in 17:18 – #1 on the BC All-Time list. Bradley Schindel ran a strong 14th (18:40), with Scott Wright (21st, 19:34) and Caleb Kohl (24th, 19:51) providing team scoring support. The Cardinals finished 12 points behind Ainsworth in the team standings (39-51).
