Plans were approved for the second phase of a major storm sewer and repaving project on Fairview Street by the Albion City Council last Tuesday night, Nov. 14.
The project stretches more than six blocks along Fairview, from Sixth Street intersection east to the Boone Central athletic field.
It includes a 48-inch storm sewer mainline from Sixth Street to the west boundary of the athletic field, a distance of about 2,500 feet.
The project also includes installation of new concrete pavement sections along much of the route, and new concrete sidewalk along the north side of Fairview.
Current estimated total cost from JEO Consulting Engineers is $1.65 million. The project will be financed through general obligation bonds, with city sales tax revenues used in repayment.
The project is expected to take 120 days, with substantial completion by Aug. 15, 2018.
