Dee Schriver presents the first place award to Bake-Off winner Carol Kusek.

An estimated 500 people attended the eighth annual Boone County Home, Farm & Garden Show last Saturday, March 24, at the fairgrounds.
Several contests were held in conjunction with the show.
Inspired Design of O’Neill received the most votes in the “favorite booth” competition.
Carol Kusek of Albion was the winner of the white bread bake-off competition.
A People’s Choice barbecue competition was held with a tasting during the show, and the winning team was S & B Crew of Albion.
In the Midwest Barbecue Association “Pitboss Challenge,” the first place winner was Brian Schroeder, Kickin’ Ash BBQ of Genoa.
Four teams competed in the challenge by cooking three “mystery meats” during the day. The mystery meats this year were turkeys, rabbits and quail.
Other competing teams in the Pitboss Challenge were Three Dogs & A Bone, Kickin’ Bull and Wild Bore.
