The Boone Central/Newman Grove boys golf team captured its first tournament victory of 2018 Thursday at the Scotus Invitational in Columbus.
The Cardinals edged Elgin/Pope John 393-397 to take top team honors in the Watson Division of the Scotus Invite. York (311) won the Nicklaus Division of the competition ahead of G.I. Central Catholic (337).
Boone Central/Newman Grove was paced by three medalists at Columbus. Garrett Cornwell placed fourth with an 18-hole score of 91 (43/48). Bradon Anderson was right behind in fifth with a 92 (46/46), and Bryton Fowlkes placed 12th, carding a 102 (45/57).
