Boone Central bowling teams fall shy in districts

The Boone Central bowling teams fell short of state qualification in district competition Sunday at Westbrook Lanes in Columbus.
The girls finished ninth in the C1 District standings with a total pin count of 1915. Wisner-Pilger won the girls district championship with a 2501 total. Also qualifying for the NHSBF Class C state tournament were North Bend (2397), Ravenna (2221), Plainview (2211), Broken Bow (2196) and McCool Junction (2129).
The Lady Cardinals rolled games of 434/406/446, then totaled 629 in the baker series with scores of 115, 135, 136, 110, 133. Niah Kahlandt had Boone Central’s top 3-game series (352), followed by Shaylyn Cornwell (325) and Destiny Umbarger (313). Emma Nelson totaled 221 in two games and Lilly Reel rolled a 75 single game score. Nelson had high game with a 136 and Kahlandt registered a 135.
The Boone Central boys just missed state qualification, placing seventh in the C1 standings. Six teams qualified for the state tournament.
Boone Central posted a team total of 2246, rolling games of 548/524/559, then adding a 615 total in the five baker games (146, 117, 110, 120, 122).
Chris Preister led the Cardinals with a strong 3-game series of 489 (166, 172, 151). Kade Noble rolled a 391 series (137, 108, 146). Hunter Meyer recorded a 263 total in two games, Garrett Grosch had a 259 two-game score and Michael Brengelman rolled 229 in a pair of games.
