Donald “Don” Lawrence Rutten, 84, of Albion, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deloris of Albion; three daughters: Cindy (Ronald) Paulsen of Meadow Grove, Cathy (Mark) Tierney of Logan, IA and Cara (John) Furgerson of Elmwood; son Troy (Brandy) Rutten of Omaha; eight grandchildren: Aryn (Ryan) Moyer of St. Louis, MO; Kailee Esser (Zach Coleman) of Harlan, IA; Regan (Mitchell) Faircloth of DeLand, FL; Jarrod (Amanda) Paulsen of Meadow Grove; Maggie Shanahan of Grand Island; Kolbi Furgerson (Jake Tomka) of Norfolk; Shelbi Furgerson of Elmwood; Noa Paige Rutten of Omaha; two step-grandsons: Ben (Corri) Tierney of Missouri Valley, IA and Nate (Amanda) Tierney of Pella IA; 14 great grandchildren: Nox and Lux Paulsen; Elena Wallace; Robby and Wesley Moyer; Angella and Rhiley Faircloth; Gavin and Tatum Tierney; Colby, Chloe, Claire, Cymber and Cade Tierney; sister Mary Tenski of Columbus; brother-in-law Robert (Cindy) Diekmann of Gregory, SD; three sisters-in-law: Donna Hutchison and Phyllis Henley of Burke, SD and Dorothy Diekmann of Lincoln, CA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Blanche Diekmann; daughter Cheryl Lynn; brother-in-law Raymond Tenski; nephew Tony Tenski; brother-in-law Donald Diekmann and sister-in-law Dorothy Laposky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon James Schindel officiating. Private family inurnment at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Albion will be at a later date.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-6:30 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home in Albion with a 6:30 p.m. wake service.
