Doc and Betz Quincy, owners and operators of Betz’s Little Shoppe in Newman Grove, will be celebrating 35 years in business this year.
Betz grew up on a farm near Cairo, and graduated from Cairo High School. She grew up sewing in 4-H and started making her own clothes by eighth grade. She furthered her education at the University of Nebraska-Kearney and after graduating from college she taught home economics for nearly 10 years.
With her love of sewing and fabrics, she easily transitioned her love into a business. She opened her shop, which started as a fashion fabric store, in 1984. The shop is located at 505 Hale Avenue in downtown Newman Grove. It sits on three lots, which allows her extra space to display plants and barrels of flowers.
In 2009, her husband, Dr. Ed (Doc) Quincy retired from dentistry and joined Betz in her shop.
