Newman Grove Community Foundation marked another year of growth and giving during its annual banquet Friday evening, July 19, at the Newman Grove Community Center.
Guest speaker this year was Carrie Malek-Madani of Norfolk, director of marketing and communications at the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF). She filled in for Brad Bauer, who was unable to attend.
Malek-Madani, former director of the Norfolk Arts Center, is in her first year with NCF. She emphasized the value of networking between communities and areas that can help all foundation funds prosper.
She noted that the Newman Grove area is well represented by foundations in Madison, Boone and Platte counties.
Malek-Madani noted that gifts NCF affiliated funds can help insure the future of rural communities and counties. The Keith County Foundation, based in Ogallala, recently received a $7 million anonymous gift, increasing its total endowment to nearly $10 million. This will provide additional funds for many improvements there, she said.
