A relaxed atmosphere, plenty of food and fun activities marked the 10th annual Rhythm & Ribs event in downtown Albion last Saturday, Aug. 17.
The number of grilling teams was back up to 19 this year, and the annual cornhole tournament attracted a record 32 teams.
Attendance was good throughout the day, according to Lori Krohn, Albion Chamber of Commerce president.
Main events were the people’s choice tasting from 12 noon to 2 p.m., and the rib dinner starting at 6 p.m.
“Smokin’ Guns,” the grilling team made up of Donny and Michael Moore of Albion, won first place in the ribs competition, followed by B & B Barbecue, a grilling team from Dodge, in the runner-up spot.
Third place for barbecued ribs went to the “Porknography” team, while Boss Hog BBQ placed fourth.
“Porknography” won first place in the people’s choice tasting competition, while last year’s ribs winner, “Whiskey, Wine and A Little Swine” of Kansas City earned the runner-up trophy in people’s choice.
