Candidate filings for the 2008 elections were completed on Monday, and a list of candidates has been announced by the Boone County Clerkâs office.
Several new filings were recorded during the last several days before the March 3 deadline. Following is the candidate list:
Boone County Commissioner, District 2 (four-year term, one seat available) – Jerry Tisthammer, Republican; Tom Fick, Republican.
Boone Central School Board (four-year term, three seats available) – Karen Kayton, Tim Preister, Roger Rozeboom, Scott D. Shriver.
Cedar Rapids School Board (four-year term, three seats available) – Irene Rutten, Debra Braun, Terry L. Penne, Peg Swerczek, Mike Choyeski, Julie Martinsen.
St. Edward School Board (four-year term, three seats available) – Mark Jensen, Ted Jensen, Garry W. Riggs, Richard Roan, Lisa Rasmussen.
Albion City Council (four-year term, two seats available) – Lanny Rasmussen, Walt Hoefer.
St. Edward City Council (four-year term, two seats available) – John Sorensen, Dianne Sindelar.
Village Trustees, Cedar Rapids, Petersburg and Primrose – No filings to date for four-year terms. Incumbent filing deadline July 15, 2008. Non-incumbent filing deadline Aug. 1, 2008.
Albion Airport Authority (one seat available, six-year term) – Ronald Levander.
The County Commissioner race is the only local or county race that will be included on the primary election ballot May 13.
