With storms passing through the area at least once a week, it has been an on again, off again planting season for area farmers. After rain last riday, May 2, some farmers were getting back to fieldwork by Monday. This photo shows discing in progress Monday afternoon on a hillside field south of Petersburg. Corn planting was estimated at only 10 to 15 percent complete in Boone County as of Monday, which is behind normal. The corn crop has been slow to emerge this year due to the cool soil temperatures.
