Card Golfers Finish Season At State

After delivering its best performance of the season in the B-3 District tournament, the Boone Central golf team could never find its ‘A’ game and solve the Lincoln Pioneers Golf Course layout in the 2008 Nebraska Class B State Tournament May 20-21.
The Cardinals finished at the bottom of the team standings with a 36-hole total of 673 and senior Bobby Bolin led the squad individually, tieing for 23rd with a two-day score of 157.
Boone Central got off to a slow start Tuesday with a 332, in front of only Beatrice and Northwest and 31 strokes back of eventual 1-2 finishers Gretna and Nebraska City. The Cards couldn’t rally on day two, turning in a 341 on their second 18.
Bolin opened the tournament in strong fashion, shooting a first-round 76 – among the best scores of the day. Junior Bryce Morgan opened with an 81 Tuesday and senior Brent Dawson fired an 83.
Morgan came back with another 81 Wednesday, but Bolin slipped to an 81 and Dawson turned in a second-round 90.
