The Albion Post #162 Seniors baseball team dropped to 1-3 with two road losses this past weekend.
Albion traveled to Creighton Saturday and took a 15-5 shellacking in a game shortened to five innings by the ten-run rule.
The hosts scored early and often in the contest, combining 11 base hits and nine walks with four Albion errors. Albion’s only offensive fireworks came in the fourth on Kalvin Zoucha’s grand slam blast.
The Albion Seniors gave O’Neill everything it could handle before dropping a 7-6 decision Sunday. The contest was a game of missed opportunities for the locals. Albion left the bases loaded in the first inning before pushing across the game’s first run in the second. The Seniors added a second run in the top of the third, but again left the bases full. O’Neill struck for three runs in the bottom of the frame, then took a 7-2 lead with four in the fourth. Albion made a strong run in the sixth when Young and Dusty Dozler followed a pair of walks with RBI base hits. Those two also scored on a base hit by Brett Nelson and a ground out, but O’Neill got the final two outs of the frame and set Albion down 1-2-3 in the seventh to secure the one-run win.
