Junior Legion 2-2 Following Split

The Albion American Legion Post #162 Juniors nipped host O’Neill in a make-up game Sunday, salvaging a split of their week’s games and evening their record at 2-2.
In a wild contest marked by numerous errors and plentiful runs, Albion used a baserunning gaffe by O’Neill to force extra innings and won the game 14-10 with a big eighth frame.
The hosts had runners at second and third bases with just one out in the bottom of the sixth, but had a runner called for interference on a ground ball to shortstop. The runner at third was sent back to his base and Albion got out of the jam with a strikeout by reliever Dustin Martin to end the inning.
Albion took advantage, scoring four runs in the eighth to break a 10-10 deadlock. Sheldon Boschen led off with a walk and Martin singled. Boschen scored on a fielder’s choice, Martin came home on Tatem Fowlkes’ double and two more runs scored on O’Neill errors.

The Albion Juniors opened the weekend with a 5-2 loss at Creighton Saturday.
Albion bounced back from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth as Boschen and Martin banged out base hits and scored.
The hosts came right back with four runs in the bottom of the frame, bunching four base hits, including a pair of doubles.
