Former Albionites were part of the annual Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) last week.
Three former Albion residents were among the nearly 600 riders that made an overnight stop in Petersburg last Thursday and traveled through Boone County on Friday.
Tiffany Bohm Hill of Lincoln was on her first BRAN ride. She is the daughter of former Albion residents Dave and Julie Bohm, now of Kearney. Her grandparents are Dale and Betty Bowman of Albion.
Naomi Reichenberg Cunning-ham of Beatrice, NE, was on her fifth BRAN ride. Her father, Ralph Reichenberg of Albion, was driving a “Sagg” vehicle and pulling a camper along the whole route. Naomi is a 1975 Albion High School graduate.
John Nore of Dublin, OH, was participating in his first BRAN ride after taking up cycling as a pastime about two years ago. He is the son of Iver and Mary Lou Nore of Albion and a 1974 Albion High graduate.
Since they were “back home again,” the riders took advantage of special sleeping arrangements -nice soft beds – on Thursday night courtesy of their local friends and relatives.
John said he and his wife, the former Lynnette Thompson, a 1976 graduate of Albion High School, were celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary while on the BRAN ride.
“It has been a great experience,” John said. “We’ve had to deal with a few things, including the Nebraska wind in our faces, but we’ve met a lot of really nice people.”
