BCR officials were forced to suspend the race card following an accident that severely damaged the safety barrier between the race track and the pit area. The Hobby Stock and Late Model feature races from Friday will now open the August 8 race program.
Before the Hobby Stock feature mishap put a damper on Friday’s card, A events were completed in the Modified and Street Stock classes. Point leaders Jason Gaver of Columbus and Randy Hooker of Humphrey did not have successful nights in feature racing, but still maintain comfortable leads with two weeks remaining in the season.
Gaver (B18) ran just 11th in the Modified feature, but actually increased his advantage to 30 points as second-place Dylan Smith struggled to 15th. Hooker finished seventh in the Street Stock A, retaining an eight-point lead over feature winner Justin Addison of Norfolk, who leapfrogged Albion’s Mark Hooker in the standings.
With features not completed in the Hobby Stock and Late Model divisions, leaders obviously remained unchanged. Bryan Molt (11B) of Cedar Rapids tops the Hobby class and Albion’s Mark Lueken (12) is the LM leader.
