Saturday morning revealed the aftermath of, not a storm, but a scary accident at the Boone County Raceway Friday, August 1. Neil Korus (11N) of Genoa pushed the car of Albion’s David Redler (20) into and along the concrete barrier wall seperating the track and the pit area during the Hobby Stock A Feature race. While the steel poles, wire screen and concrete wall received considerable damage, they served their purpose well, keeping the #20 car from hurtling into the crowded pits. Neither driver was injured in the incident, but BCR track official Curt Berglund of Albion, who was located just inside the safety barrier, suffered a mild concussion, along with other bumps and bruises.
