Brooke Bolin of Albion recently returned home from an entertaining and educational trip to Australia and Hawaii, made possible by her golfing talents.
Earlier this year, Bolin was chosen as one of the Nebraska participants for the 8th Annual Down Under Golf Meet. Brooke, her coach and her teammates traveled to the Gold Coast of Australia for six days, then to Hawaii for three days in July.
The United States competitors played on several of the premier golf courses in Australia and Hawaii and also enjoyed sight-seeing excursions and leisure activities during their journey.
Brooke, daughter of Jeff and Cindy Bolin, had an outstanding competitive golf debut for Boone Central High School in 2007, qualifying for the Class B Girls State Tournament as a freshman and placing in the top 20.
“In the All-American Tournament, I placed 8th in the girls competition and my team took 1st. My team had players from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, comprised of girls and boys,” Brooke commented. “It was not a good day to golf – it rained the entire day and it was a 27-hole tournament!
“The International Tournament was between the United States and Australia and Australia won.”
