BCR Championship Night To Decide 2008 Titles

Hooker Brothers BattleRace patrons received an extra treat at the Boone County Raceway August 8 with two extra feature races contested along with the regular Friday night card.
The BCR Hobby Stock and Late Model A Features were postponed August 1 when a backstretch accident early in the Hobby feature severely damaged the safety barrier seperating the track and pit area.
After those makeup events and the regular August 8 feature races were completed Friday, all four BCR season point leaders were left in position to wrap up 2008 class titles at this week’s annual Championship Night program.
Bryan Molt of Cedar Rapids won his third A Feature of 2008 in Friday’s regular racing and boosted his Hobby Stock season lead back to 12 points over Norfolk’s Nic Kimmel after finishing eighth in the earlier makeup feature race.
Humphrey’s Randy Hooker also got his Street Stock season advantage back to double digits with his fourth A Feature victory of the season. Norfolk’s Justin Addison is second in the class standings.
Jason Gaver of Columbus continued to bury the competition in the Modified division, scoring his fourth 2008 feature win Friday and opening a 31 point gap over Osceola’s Dylan Smith in the season race.
Albion’s Mark Lueken placed second in the Late Model makeup feature, then took fifth in the regular A event Friday, maintaining a seven-point season edge in his bid for a repeat championship. Nick Wehrle of Madison sits in second after third and fourth-place runs in Friday’s features and Albion’s Mike Kelley drew within eight points of Lueken by placing second and third in the two A races.

The annual Boone County Raceway Championship Night racing program will be held Friday, Aug. 15, beginning at 8 p.m.
Along with championship feature races in the regular four BCR classes, the Holt County Sprints will make their final visit of 2008.
