A record amount was raised for cancer research at the 2008 Cattlemen’s Ball held last June in Boone County.
Total net income of $796,000 was announced this week by the general chairmen and treasurer Rick Martinsen for the Cattlemen’s Ball, which was hosted by Niewohner Cattle Co. on June 6-7.
Ten percent of this amount will stay in Albion and surrounding communities to benefit health-related organizations. The balance will be donated to Eppley Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. The chairmen and the Niewohner family will present the donation checks during a reception in Albion Wednesday evening, Sept. 24.
