July 2008 set a new record for Albion city sales tax receipts.
The city’s sales tax receipts of $60,003.34 mark the highest monthly amount of revenue since Albion one percent local sales and use tax began in 1998 and an additional one-half percent was added for fire department construction and equipment in 2006.
The July 2008 revenues are 41 percent higher than July 2007 city sales tax revenues and 35 percent higher than May of 2008.
The previous record high for Albion sales tax revenue was $53,262.99 recorded in March 2008.
In announcing the July sales tax receipts, City Administrator Andrew Devine stated: “This is an indicator that there is a certain stability in local economic growth and prosperity, which is good news for local businesses.”
