Carder Leads BC Harriers With York Triumph

Carder Leads The PackJunior Kevin Carder led an outstanding Boone Central effort at the always-tough York Invitational Thursday, Oct. 2, at the York Country Club.
Carder won the boys race and Card senior Halie Smith placed fourth in the girls field. Both Boone Central teams placed fifth against stellar competition.
“We did really well among heavy-hitting Class B schools,” praised Cardinal Coach Tom Dickey. “I was extremely proud of Kevin Carder’s win – each week he impresses me more and more. He’s gaining a lot of respect from other schools, as well.
“Halie had another excellent race, defeating several girls who had beaten her earlier in the season.
“Our guys worked really hard at running together and it panned out well for them,” Dickey added. “This was very encouraging and is happening at the right time of the season!”
Carder traversed the challenging York C.C. course in a time of 17:02 to capture the boys title against some top runners from host York, Omaha Skutt and G.I. Northwest. Bryce Schilousky took 19th for Boone Central with a 19:04 clocking and Jacob Lindgren cracked the top 25 (24th) in 19:17.

Smith finished a strong fourth in the girls division in a time of 16:19 and teammate Lana Koziol turned in another solid run, placing 15th in 17:39.
