Bolin District Golf Runner-up

Bolin eyes shotBrooke Bolin’s impressive 2008 season got even better last week.
The Cardinal sophomore placed second Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Class C-2 district tournament at Grand Island’s Jackrabbit Run Golf Course and qualified for the state tournament for the second straight season.
Doniphan-Trumbull freshman Danielle Lemek had trounced competition all season, but Bolin came close to taking the district crown in a duel of talented young Cardinals. Lemek finished with a 75 over the Jackrabbit Run layout, Bolin just two strokes back at 77.
“Brooke got off to a great start,” said Boone Central Coach Jesse Brodersen. “She hit the green in regulation on the first five holes and her longest birdie putt was 15 feet.
“She had it to two under par through five and finished the front nine with a 37 despite a double-bogey on eight and bogey on nine.
“The back nine played tougher, with more holes dead into a strong wind. Brooke had a great par save on 15, but gave a stroke back on 17 after being inside 100 yards on her approach.
“All in all, she played a great round of golf,” Brodersen praised. “I’m looking forward to watching her at state while playing with a very strong freshman (Lemek), who is the individual favorite.”
