Card Volleyers Split At Pierce

The Boone Central volleyball team split matches in a triangular at Pierce Tuesday, Oct. 7, before getting a long break in a busy season.
The Cardinals, 9-7, will next compete Thursday at Hartington Cedar Catholic, then conclude the 2008 regular season with a triangular at Twin River (Oct. 21) and the annual Mid-State Conference Tournament in Pierce and Norfolk (Oct. 27-28).

Boone Central struggled with a tough 15-3 Pierce squad on its home court in Tuesday’s triangular, dropping a 9-25, 12-25 decision.
The Cardinals were never able to get untracked, getting just 21 serves and 33 hit attempts in the match. Boone Central struggled at the service line (16-of-21, 76%) and hit at a 79 percent clip (26-of-33).

The Cardinals rebounded to thump Wayne 25-16, 25-20. Boone Central served a scorching 98 percent (47-of-48), was 94 percent efficient setting and hit 84 percent (47-of-56) in the victory.
