Despite cold, wet weather conditions that plagued players throughout both days of the tourney, Bolin fashioned rounds of 85-80 over the 18-hole Indianhead layout. Her 165 total trailed only champion Danielle Lemek (152) of Doniphan-Trumbull and runner-up Steph Rodgers (161) of Syracuse. Just one other player in the field of 96 managed to shoot below 175.
“I’m very proud of Brooke,” said Cardinal Coach Jesse Brodersen. “She played well overall and really had things going the second day.”
Bolin showed her talent and resiliency Tuesday, bouncing back from Monday’s slightly disappointing round with her strong follow-up 80. Only Lemek, who shot back-to-back 76s, had a better second-day score.
The state tournament performance capped a season during which Bolin set four new school records. Two of those marks were accomplished in the state competition – best girls 36-hole score and best girls state tournament finish.
Bolin finished 13 strokes ahead of the nearest Mid-State Conference competitor – 2008 conference champion Isabella Baldacci of Norfolk Catholic. Baldacci placed eighth at Indianhead (178).
