Sullivan outlines plans for coming weeks

Kate Sullivan

Fresh from a general election victory, Kate Sullivan of Cedar Rapids is making preparations to take over as Nebraska’s District 41 State Senator in less than two months.

She will be sworn in on Jan. 7, 2009 — the first day of a 90-day legislative session.

In the meantime, she’ll be busy with meetings and orientation. She’ll also be studying some of the issues that are likely to come before the Legislature in its next session.

She will make some history when she is sworn in. She will be the first state senator in 52 years to hail from Boone County. The last Boone Countian to serve in the Legislature was Glenn Cramer of Albion, who served from 1947 to 1957 and represented District 27.
