Boone Central’s 2008 football team had six players named to the Class C1 District 6 All-District team and another six receive Honorable Mention in voting by district coaches.
The Cardinals placed three players each on the C1-6 All-District offensive and defensive units. Seniors Dusty Dozler, Bryce Morgan and Kalvin Zoucha were offensive selections. Senior Keir Dane Harner and juniors Dustin Christo and Nathan Olson were defensive picks.
Receiving Honorable Mention were seniors Kevin Krohn, Ryan Shotkoski, Cody Baker, Dustin Martin and Issiah Bauld and junior Michael Schmitz.
Dusty Dozler led Boone Central rushers in 2008 with 356 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He scored two touchdowns and caught six passes. Defensively, Dozler was in on 38 total tackles.
Bryce Morgan was a two-way starter for the Cardinals and also handled most of the kicking duties this past season. Along with 32 total tackles and three sacks, Morgan scored 19 points with 10-of-11 PAT kicks and three field goals.
Kalvin Zoucha was Boone Central’s major receiving threat with 26 catches for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He made 60 total tackles (29 solo) and intercepted three passes on defense and averaged 35.6 yards on 39 punts.
Keir Dane Harner was in on 67 total tackles (27 solo) in ‘08 and recovered a pair of fumbles. He was the team’s second-leading rusher with 302 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Dustin Christo registered 73 total tackles from his linebacker position, forced three fumbles and recovered a team-high four fumbles, one for a touchdown.
Nathan Olson was Boone Central’s top tackler in 2008, totaling 75 stops (29 unassisted). Along with one sack, Olson made eight tackles-for-loss, recovered one fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown.
Kevin Krohn finished 2008 with 33 total tackles and a fumble recovery. Ryan Shotkoski tied for the team lead in interceptions (3) and completed 59-of-129 passes for 618 yards with four TDs and six interceptions. Cody Baker rushed for 291 yards and a touchdown and caught seven passes for 134 yards and a score. Dustin Martin gained 190 yards rushing and made 34 total tackles in ‘08. Issiah Bauld was a two-way lineman, registering 18 total tackles with on sack. Michael Schmitz also saw two-way action up front and was involved in 12 tackles, one for loss.
