No steam has been rising from the stack at the VeraSun Albion ethanol plant since last Friday night, Dec. 19, causing some speculation about the plant’s status. A VeraSun spokesman said Monday the plant had been idled temporarily, but the workforce will remain in place at this time. VeraSun plants at Central City and Ord were shut down earlier this year. The company is working through Chapter 11 bankruptcy and has received a buyout offer.
