New member joins School Board

Officers elected, four staff members resign

A new Boone Central School Board member, Roger Rozeboom, was sworn into office during the board’s regular meeting on Tuesday night, Jan. 13, at Petersburg.

Elected in November, Rozeboom replaced retiring board member Tom Briese and begins a four-year term.

A new slate of board officers was also elected. Karen Kayton will replace Larry Temme as president. Patti Meyer was elected vice president, and Tim Preister was elected secretary-treasurer for the coming year.

Appointment of school board committees was tabled until a February meeting. Board members were asked to designate the committees they wish to serve on.

Resignations of four school district staff members, effective at the end of the 2008-09 school year, were accepted by the board.

Three staff members will be accepting the school district’s early retirement incentive. They are Mary Thieman, Middle School principal; Sandy Fricke, Family and Consumer Science teacher in the high school, and Pat Naber, Family and Consumer Science teacher and librarian at the Middle School.

A separate resignation was accepted from Deb Reigle, Middle School Special Education teacher, who will be leaving her position after the current school year.

Superintendent Larry Lambert said the board and administration will explore various options for staffing before advertising available positions this spring.
