County Fair entertainment lineup set

Entertainment lineup is set for the Q-125 Boone County Fair, which will be held one week earlier than last year.

The fair dates are July 11-16, 2009, and history will be featured throughout the celebration.

The Boone County Historical Society and County Fair Board are seeking historical items from the early fairs, as well as personal accounts and pictures from those who may have participated in the fairs of the 1930s or earlier.

Some of the items sought are early posters, pictures from concerts and special events, and general memorabilia. These items will be on display throughout the fair.

Anyone who wants to write a personal account or has county fair historical items they would loan for display can contact Jeryl Kettelson (fair board) at 402-386-5636 or Pat Boilesen (historical society) at 395-6558.

Following is the 2009 County Fair entertainment schedule announced by Fair Board Chairman Chuck Rolf:

Saturday, July 11 – “Little River Band” (classic rock) will headline the evening show west of the grandstand. Opening act will be the rock band “Emphatic.” Bring portable chairs for seating.

Sunday, July 12 – Boone County Fair Parade (afternoon). WDRL Racing on the track that evening.

Monday, July 13 – Senior Day with the theme of “Heritage.” Evening grandstand show will feature a Native American family, “Fast Horses” and comedian Herb Dixon.

Tuesday, July 14 – Kids Day at the fair. Evening Barbecue with all Boone County banks participating. Evening grandstand show will include the Combine Demolition Derby on the infield and a new event, the 3-Car Train Race, on the track.
