Courthouse renovation will proceed

Based on a construction cost estimate of $1.4 million, Boone County Commissioners voted Monday to proceed with renovation work in the county courthouse.

No additional space will be added to the building with this project, but a variety of interior changes and building upgrades are included.

The estimate includes renovation of the space currently occupied by Health and Human Services offices. These offices will be moved to an off-campus location to free up about 1,000 square feet for other offices.

The current plan is to move the County Attorney’s office, Zoning Administrator’s office and Highway Superintendent’s office into the former HHS office space. Other offices may be shifted or expanded somewhat, but most other offices will remain in their current locations, commissioners said.
