Dakota Olson, of Albion has been selected to attend the 2009 American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State Session. Girls State will be held in at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from May 31 to June 6, 2009.
Girls State is a nationwide program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Each year more than 400 girls from throughout the state are offered an opportunity to be active participants in structured role-playing that emphasizes our Democratic form of government.
Dakota is a junior at Boone Central High School and is the daughter of Michael Olson and Judy Merten.
Whitney Michael was chosen as the alternate. She is also a junior at Boone Central and is the daughter of Dennis and Nicki Michael of Albion.
