Boone County Health Center Board has decided to proceed with a construction project that would result in 25 private patient rooms and add other facilities to the hospital.
The board voted last Tuesday night, March 24, to approve the process and have its construction company, Beckenhauer Construction of Norfolk, obtain firm bids for the entire project.
The total project carries an estimated cost of $6,735,000 and has been under study since last year. The cost would be paid with hospital operating revenues.
After reviewing the bids in May, the board will decide whether to proceed with the entire project or just the first phase of the work.
Funds are already being set aside for the addition, according to Vic Lee, CEO and president of BCHC.
“There will be a project,” he said. “The board is just waiting to decide on the scope.”
