Planning Board recommends taller storage buildings

During its monthly meeting Monday night, April 6, Albion Planning Commission approved a recommendation to allow taller storage buildings in the city’s residential districts.

If approved by the city council, the change in zoning regulations would allow an increase of seven feet in the overall height of detached storage buildings in low and medium density residential districts.

A majority of planning board members felt the change was necessary to allow homeowners to build off-street storage for larger campers and RVs, where lot space allows.

The change would increase the allowable sidewall height from 10 feet to 15 feet, and change the maximum overall height from 15 feet to 22 feet.
