Dan Cox resigns from Albion City Council

Albion City Councilman Dan Cox submitted a letter of resignation to Mayor Jim Jarecki on Monday, April 13, announcing his resignation from the council effective immediately.

Cox said he feels he has served his time after about 11 years on the board and hopes some other residents express interest in the position.

Cox was first elected to the council in the mid-1990s. He was off the board for about four years before being elected again in 2002 and 2006. His current term will expire in December, 2010.

The city has announced the vacancy, and anyone interested in serving the unexpired term can submit a written request for consideration to Mayor Jarecki by May 5, 2009. The Mayor plans to submit his appointment to the council on May 12, 2009, and the council will either confirm or deny the appointment at that time.
