School Board hires three teachers, accepts one resignation

Boone Central School Board filled its teaching vacancies for 2009-10 on Monday night, approving three teacher hirings and accepted one resignation.

The board hired teachers for high school English, middle school Special Education and 9-12 Spanish.

Cassie Olson, a 2004 Boone Central graduate and first year teacher, will teach freshman English and speech, and will serve as softball coach next year.

Sandra Sorell was hired as middle school Special Education teacher. She has taught previously at Tilden Elkhorn Valley and Spalding. She will also serve as assistant cheerleading sponsor.

Jeremy Struckman, a first year teacher, will teach Spanish in ninth through 12th grades. He is from the Big Springs/Brule area, and will graduate this spring from UNL.

A resignation was accepted from the current Spanish teacher, Mrs. Jane Johnson, who plans to pursue an opportunity in business after seven years with the district.
