Courthouse renovation will proceed

Renovation of the Boone County Courthouse could begin within the next several months.

After nearly two years of consideration and many changes, County Commissioners on Monday approved the basic plan for renovation and authorized their architects and construction manager to move forward with the project.

Initial plans to build an addition for a new courtroom were shelved several months ago, and the project now includes only renovation of the existing building.

Brad Kissler, principal architect with Canon Moss Brygger and Associates presented the renovation plans Monday to county officials. Although the basic plan is in place, commissioners reserved the right to make some changes as the project moves toward construction.
