Four Boone County communities have been awarded a $15,500 grant for a cooperataive project aimed at economic revitalization and wealth generation in the county.
Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Nebraska Rural Development Commission announced the grant award Monday to the communities of Cedar Rapids, Petersburg, St. Edward and Albion.
The grant funds will be matched with about $3,500 in local funds to begin an initiative to “build effective and sustainable economic development capacity” in the county.
Shannon Landauer, Boone County Development Agency executive director, said planning and preparation work for the two-year project will start this summer.
